"Aim High Academy combines FITNESS and FAITH to help build bright FUTURES in urban children and youth from the North Tulsa community and beyond."
After volunteering with youth in the north Tulsa community for over 10 years, our Founder, Jennifer Patterson, saw a need for early intervention in the lives of the youth she was serving.
Through prayer, God gave her the vision to combine her passion for the wonderful sport of gymnastics with her passion for North Tulsa children. Although unique, the idea makes sense. Children can begin gymnastics at age 2 or 3 – one cannot intervene much earlier than this!
Gymnastics, being such a disciplined sport, presents opportunities for so many lessons children can receive.
Aim High received our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2007 and began raising money for small gymnastics mats and a low balance beam. The response we received from family and friends was encouraging.
We began our first gymnastics classes on donated space at the John 3:16 Family and Youth Center in February of 2007.
Word about Aim high spread quickly and by June of 2007 we were renting our own small space at the North Pointe Business Center with over 40 children enrolled. In 2008, we had our first team of Aim high gymnasts representing the North Tulsa community at local competitions.
